Following Cusco, we split for the Sacred Valley, first stopping at Ollantaytambo and then onto Aguas Calientes, which is a little tourist village at the foot of Machu Picchu. Off to bed early, we woke up at 430am the next morning to meet our guide at the bus stop to get up to Machu Picchu.
We had a great walk around the city with our guide for a couple of hours, and then she left us at the gate to Waynu Picchu, which is a larger mountain overlooking Machu Picchu. You have to get there early since they only allow 400 people per day to climb up it. And it's not the easiest of hikes. A few times I was actually quite afraid of falling. The photos here don't do it justice.
The village of Aguas Calientes is named so for its natural hot springs which are a 10 minute walk up from town. If you ever end up there, definately be sure not to miss this after a few days of hiking.
